Fasteners Made From High-Performance Plastics PEEK and PTFE

July 24, 2025

Fasteners face extreme performance requirements – particularly in demanding sectors like mechanical engineering, medical devices, electronics, and the chemical industry, where high-performance materials such as PEEK and PTFE are essential.

Bülte offers a comprehensive range of fasteners made from high-performance plastics PEEK and PTFE, including screws, nuts, and washers. These advanced materials stand out for their exceptional chemical resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical strength. Compared to metal fasteners, they also provide the benefit of reduced weight, making them ideal for weight-sensitive applications.

PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is highly regarded for its high tensile strength, continuous use temperature resistance up to 260°C, and excellent dimensional stability. In contrast, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) offers an extremely low coefficient of friction, outstanding resistance to aggressive chemicals, and superior electrical insulation – making it the perfect choice for sealing elements, electrical insulators, and low-friction applications.

Plastic Standard Parts – Custom-Engineered and High-Performance

Bülte’s standard product range includes over 6,500 plastic fasteners in various standard dimensions (cheese head screws ISO 1207 (DIN 84), washers ISO 7089 (DIN 125, DIN 34815), washers ISO 7092 (DIN 433), washers ISO 7093 (DIN 9021), and many more), different manufacturing types (e.g. injection-molded parts, turned and stamped components), and a wide variety of materials. In addition to PEEK and PTFE, customer-specific versions reinforced with glass fiber, graphite, or carbon fiber are also available to meet special requirements such as enhanced sliding properties or increased tensile strength.
