Plastic Countersunk Screws – Versatile All-Rounders with Many Advantages

One key advantage of plastic countersunk screws is their excellent corrosion resistance. Unlike metal screws, which can rust or oxidize when exposed to moisture, chemicals, or salty air, screws made of engineering plastics such as polyamide, PVDF, or polypropylene are resistant to such influences. This makes them ideal for use in the outdoor sector, humid or maritime environments, and in chemically demanding areas such as laboratory equipment or electroplating facilities.

Countersunk screws from Bülte are standardly made of natural-colored polyamide (nylon). Upon request, other plastics such as glass fiber-reinforced polyamide, PP, PE, PVDF, or PC, as well as screws in RAL colors are also available. Depending on the material used, countersunk screws offer high resistance to oils, greases, acids, and alkalis. Screws made from glass fiber-reinforced polyamide (PA GF) are particularly suited for higher mechanical loads.

Electrically Insulating and Lightweight: Plastic Countersunk Screws

Plastic has insulating properties, making these countersunk screws indispensable in electrical and electronic applications. They prevent short circuits and current transfers, making them especially suitable for PCB mounting, electrical housings, control cabinets, industrial controls, and of course, electric vehicles.

Countersunk screws made of plastic weigh only a fraction compared to their metal counterparts. This significantly reduces the total weight of assemblies and devices – a major benefit in industries such as aerospace or furniture construction, where every gram counts. In automotive manufacturing, these lightweight plastic screws are widely used, as their reduced weight helps decrease fuel consumption.

Thanks to the countersunk head, the screws sit flush with the surface, ensuring a clean finish and reducing the risk of injury caused by protruding screw heads. This makes them ideal for use in furniture and user interface areas.
